He has been a hotelier for over 25 years and held senior management positions at Amari Hotels & Resorts and the Taj Group of Hotels His current responsibilities include Hotel developments in South East Asia and bringing new restaurant concepts in the region He is also the Director of the AVANI Atrium Hotel Bangkok and overseas this asset which belongs to the GP Group Mr. Modgil completed his education at Cornell University and at the Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology in Bombay, India. He is an avid golfer, motor biker and enjoys wine tasting trips with his wife.

Being an educated and certified engineer in the field of engineering, environment and energy efficiency specialist working in the hotel, resort & spa development and operation for the past twenty years. Having opened and operated properties all over the world, in exclusive and many times rather remote location (ie. Thailand, Indonesia, Jordan, Oman, Fiji, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Turks & Caicos (Salt Cay), Seychelles, UK/London, Fiji, Maldives, Vietnam, Philippines, Spain, China, Hong Kong etc.), starting from the development with design, planning, procurement, project control & management and handover (with test & commissioning) .... the pre-opening, opening, with re-branding, CAPEX, renovation and upgrading's.
The projects include high rise, medium rise, hotels, resorts, spas and residences with mix-use (including schools, offices, malls and serviced apartments) since 1996. Working with ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 standards, benchmarking and certification, in conjunction with 'GreenLeaf' program, 'GreenGlobe' program and 'EarthCheck'/EC3 Global program (based on the GHG protocol, the Kyoto protocol and the Agenda21). The past over ten years led to develop a Spa benchmark program with 'EC3Global' and having all group hotel properties benchmarked and certified. These program's and initiatives combined with a vast knowledge and experience in the energy efficiency led to annual average savings of over 13% of energy, over 22% of water, over 30% of waste and over 15% of related Co2-emissions !! Working in collaboration, relations and support with IUCN, ITP/IBLF, PATA, EarthCheck and participating in several International Conferences in Spain, Bulgaria, Singapore, UK and Thailand led to a sharing of knowledge and experience in this field
